"Outpatient Clinics (Psychiatry)"

About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

Timekeeping: From my experience, clinics very rarely run to time. There are often significant delays, and I feel that little consideration is given to patients time. It is all well and good offering a verbal apology when this happens, but the frequency with which this is happening makes these apologies pretty worthless...

Retention of Doctors: I went through a phase of seeing a different Psychiatrist at every appointment I attended. Last year, I finally got to see the same person on more than one occasion, but they too have recently resigned, with clinics being covered by a temporary Doctor who travels from 140mi away! I appreciate that Doctors pass through the department on training rotations which may explain some of this, but the lack of continuity means valuable appointment time is taken up by going over old ground with each new Doctor. It also means there is no opportunity to build a meaningful Doctor/Patient relationship, and it significantly reduces the quality of appointments, the level of care received, and levels of trust and confidence in your service.
