"Abnormal Bleeding"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I am so appalled with this hospital.. I was referred to the gynaecology clinic as an emergency appointment by the walk in centre as I was bleeding heavily all of a sudden 12 days after finishing my menstrual cycle. This has never happened to me before and was totally out of normality for me. I am so upset/scared all I was told is go home and let it stop naturally as its nothing. I have no answers as to what’s the cause or why? How to stop it? Is it cancer as I have a family history of cervical cancer? Absolutely nothing other than I can hear staff saying why was I referred to gynaecology? I should carry on bleeding for 3 months and then contact them. I am absolutely terrified and will hope to go privately to see the cause of my issue and also get a cervical screen done as this hospital wasn’t able to guide me any further.

Dear reviewer,

We are really sorry to hear about your experience in our gynaecology clinic at the Royal. Your experience does not reflect the high level of care we expect our patients to receive and we would like to look into your concerns so we can improve our service for future patients. If you are happy for us to do so, please send your details (name, address, date of birth and hospital number) to communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk so that we can review the circumstances of your presentation and respond with further explanation and advice as appropriate.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment – feedback is important to us.

Kind regards,

Ian Scudamore,

Clinical Director of Women's & Children's services,
