"Disabled Facilities no hoist available"

About: St James's University Hospital

Despite several appointments each time being asking to weigh the person I care for not hoist available. Staff even suggested I lift my client as they due to health and safety were not allowed to. I refused on every occasion and still despite visiting again recently still no hoisting facilities to enable weighing to be done. This is an important part of evaluating dosage of medication but still after 3 years not able to do this at the outpatients clinic.

When are the NHS Trust going to take disability seriously and provide basic equipment to ensure proper care of disabled patients.

Dear Dissapointed,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

I am very sorry to read that you had such a distressing time whilst in our care; the level of service that you have described is not what we wish to offer.

I would very much welcome the opportunity to investigate this matter; however, I would firstly need to know in what part of the hospital this was. I would ask that you contact our Trust’s Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS). This would enable us to look into the matters you have raised more thoroughly and also to see what lessons we could learn from your experience.

Please call our Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0113 206 6261 or alternatively email patientexperience.leedsth@nhs.net

With kind regards

Rosie
