"Almost Deliver My Baby in the Cafe (the midwife..."

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

At 6:00 on the 30th November we checked in in the labour ward as I was feeling big contractions and pain. The midwife sent us home (I was with my husband), 20 minutes away on a minicab £10 fare.

At 9:00 we checked in again as pain was more intense and the midwife sent us home again as apparently "I was not in labour yet".

At 12:30, we checked in for the third time as pain was unbearable but same midwife sent us home.

At 16:00 we checked in for the fourth time and the same midwife along with another told me they won't check my vagina as it could be a risk for an infection, so without checking me they sent me for a "walk and a coffee" outside the hospital. So my husband and I went outside with an incredible pain and I don't know cos they didn't check contractions I was having. The thing is at the queue for the coffee I almost fainted, and I felt the baby was almost out. It was cold it was dark and I could barely walk across the whole car park and the way up to the ward. Once we finally got there, my waters broke waters and the midwife told me that "I need to wait as there is another person in the queue". Once the midwife checked me they told me to run almost naked through the corridor with one hand holding my baby's head from falling down my vagina " do you want to have the baby here?"

As I barely could walk with my husbands help through the corridor to a room where another midwife expected us. As soon as I sat the midwife left us alone there with another midwife who was setting up the room while my husband was shouting "baby's head is coming out"!

Thanks God our son is healthy and nothing happened but I am traumatized for the treatment received. I hope the management reconsiders this midwife capability and attitude as I feel it was very unfair how I was treated in a vulnerable condition.
