"My daughter cut open her face"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter recently fell and slashed her face from the top of her lip to the top of her nose which was reasonably deep, as she is only 1 years old It was a horrific experience as I didn't know if she had also hit her head too hard and done any damage, or broke any bones in the process. The staff at the hospital were amazing, after a short wait the staff were soon there to look after her and clean her up, and to make the decision weather she would need stitches or deciding if glueing the wound would be for the best. In about an hour they had sorted my very tired and upset daughter out and we were on our way home.

My partner and myself were told on our way out that if the glue came away in the next few days, or if we had any concerns we should return to the hospital to get it checked out.

As my little girl was suffering with a cold unfortunately the glue was washed away by me wiping/dabbing her nose constantly, and the wound was open again, so as we were told we returned 3 days later to the same department, where we waited for a nurse, when the nurse arrived they were rude, made us feel like we were stupid for taking her, and within 5 minutes dismissed the fact that her face still had an open cut on it and sent us home with no help or advice what so ever, other than if we thought it was infected, to go to our GP.

What a shame that one of your nurses out of the 6/7 we saw had to be so abrupt and rude.
