I very rarely complain about hospitals or the nhs really, the Leicester Royal in particular has actually served me and various family members very well over the years. But ward 28 at the Leicester General have seriously wound me up this week. Boyfriend went in on Thursday after collapsing in pain with his gallbladder (It's severely diseased and needs to be removed, he already knew this) and has been waiting on a ward ever since for his operation. Same drill every day, nil by mouth from midnight then starved all day, only to find out in the evening various "life saving" operations have been put ahead of him in the queue and it won't be happening that day. Also said he can't have codeine and was still given it anyway by a careless nurse. He is in agonizing pain and getting more and more depressed being trapped on the ward and starved for days for no reason. This is what our taxes pay for is it? He also wasn't even allowed a shower on Friday as there were "no towels".
No wonder MRSA breeds the way it does, when people can't even shower. My boyfriend is honestly becoming more poorly now than when he first went in. He keeps being told conflicting things, some doctors even mention him going home despite him being in agony and needing the operation. It's making me mentally ill myself watching someone I love suffer in this way. So much to be said for private healthcare. Also the ward is filthy.
"disgusting"
