"During the day the nurses were ..."

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

During the day the nurses were fantastic & very attentive & helpful. One nurse from the day clinic I'd attended even came up to visit me on one of her breaks which was lovely.

What could be improved

The night staff were horrendous.Although I was in a lot of pain from the op I'd just had the night staff weren't interested, choosing instead to sit at their station & natter loudly all night. You felt like an inconvenience to them & one of them even 'huffed' at me when I asked her for more water. Day after op I had to move beds & from then on was practically ignored. No night staff were present on the ward all night & other peoples calls for help were totally ignored. By the 3rd day I'd had enough & discharged myself - enough was enough. My complaint will be going to the complaints commission in due course. Ward B1. I regard nursing as a vocation & not just a job to do to cover the bills - if you haven't got a caring nature - don't be a nurse.

Anything else?

Food was awful! Ate once (the only one time I was offered food) & opted for fish pie which was inedible. I couldn't even break the surface as it was too hard & overcooked so I went hungry. The only time a cuppa was on offer was when the food trolley was there. I had 2 cups of tea in 3 days.
