"Not enough"

About: Compass House

I went to the service for severe anxiety and sadly did not find the service helpful.

They were kind and responded quickly but I did not feel confident in the abilities of the person I saw and it was not made clear to me what their qualifications were (if any).

I found the help offered to be very basic indeed, and involved some very patronising worksheets that I was told to fill in at home.

No actual work was done in sessions.

I found this very frustrating considering that I had explained in detail the things I had already tried for my anxiety, including CBT, hypnotherapy and mindfulness.

I found that the mindfulness course I was completing at home from a book to be massively more help than the DAS. I think their approach would be appropriate for someone who had never had any help, but I found it very disappointing and it seemed to me to be a 'mental health by numbers' approach.

Thanks for leaving your feedback here which we will ensure is passed on to the staff at DAS. Would you be able to make direct contact with us to discuss this further please? We would really like to understand in more detail what are some of the issues. It may be that we can offer you more appropriate treatment options. Our Patient and Advice and Liaison service would be happy to follow this up if you make contact with them on freephone 0800 073 0741 or by email dpn-tr.pals@nhs.net With our best wishes.
