"Admiration and thanks for staff"

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

On the 15th March 2016 I had a hysterectomy.

This was done by robotic surgery and went exceedingly well.

My surgeon explained everything from the start and afterwards came to see me again.

All staff put me at ease as, obviously, I was quite frightened and I was discharged within 48 hours of the operation. Prior to discharge one of the nurses talked my husband through giving me my daily injection he was going to carry on doing.

On discharge my husband got a wheelchair and one of the H.C.A.s on the Acute Dependency Unit took control of it and myself so that my husband could bring the car right outside the hospital doors.

I can't thank everyone enough for all their care and support during this time.

I feel I am improving now even more each day.

Thank you to all who have helped with my success.

Response from Royal Surrey County Hospital

Thank you for taking the time write and thank the team who treated you. Royal Surrey recently invested in the two new state-of-the art da Vinci Si robots that were used during your operation. They allow the surgical team to perform procedures, with increased precision whilst using a minimal invasive approach and as a result patients benefit from shorter hospital stays, faster recovery and less discomfort after surgery.

We understand that coming into hospital can be a very daunting experience, so I am delighted that the surgical team were able to put you at ease before and after your procedure. I will pass your message onto my colleagues, who I know will be delighted to receive it. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
