"Extremely poor communication and poor patient..."

About: Watford General Hospital

I have been a recent inpatient on the Stroke Ward at the Watford General, despite having not suffered a stroke. I think I was on this ward due to no other beds being available. The communication skills of the consultant I saw were nonexistent at best and downright rude if I were to be more honest. Also, being very hard of hearing the noncommunication crossed the line of being highly descriminatory as the consultant made no allowances for this. This has resulted in a care plan which is neither relevant nor effective. Please Mr. Consultant, learn how to communicate. There is also a complete absence of catering after five O'Clock. If a patient is hungry the patient simply stays hungry. I suffered from low blood glucose while I was there and was dismayed to discover that biscuits or toast were the only food offering available. I am still shocked to discover that you just stay hungry and feeling, as I did, worse because of it. Please Watford General, you just cannot treat patients like this. This is the Twentyfirst Century. A hospital just can't leave its patients to starve. My overall experience was not a good one and I would not want to stay here again.
