"Severe back pain"

About: Royal Orthopaedic Hospital / Neurosurgery

(as the patient),

I suffered from severe back and leg pain and spent two weeks n hospital with a catheter and unable to walk after various scans the surgeon said he could find nothing to operate on and was sent home on a Zimmer.

I managed to get back to work to work still suffering tremendous back and leg pain and asked my gp for help he sent me to another hospital and surgeon who said after more scans nerve blocks that did nothing the same I can't see anything to operate on you will have to live with it.

After nearly five years of severe life limiting pain and strong drugs for the pain I again asked my gp for help this time being sent to the Royal orthopaedic in Birmingham the surgeon sent me for my third nerve block but this time it felt fantastic but only lastedv8 hours but now the surgeon referred me for surgery although being told I may wait up to a year, I have just had my surgery after waiting only. 17 weeks the experience was unbelievable the staff from top to bottom are superb and professional they have I hope as I recover given me my life back as anyone who has lived in constant pain will know .....the surgeon and his team plus all who work in this wonderfull Hospital from the cleaners and porters up to the surgeon who found my disc prolapse that two others could not made my stay and operatin a wonder full experience, I cannot praise this hospital enough they are superb.

I won't name the two hospitals that did not find my prolased discs ...but one was in Solihull the other very near Birmingham university ...
