"Suggestions for Gender Identity Clinic"

Feedback about Gender Identity Clinic Charing Cross London

A secure email would mean that there was better, faster communication. Letters currently take at least 2 months to be sent out.

I feel there is more funding needed to reduce waiting times.

Perhaps, offering Skype appointments, where no investigations are needed, could avoid 7 hour round trips for patients, which are very expensive and exhausting.

Dear Moneypenny1990

Firstly thank you very much for taking the time to pass on your suggestions to us. We are always happy to receive feedback - even when it isn't good to hear - and will always take this into account whenever we make changes to the service that we provide to our service users.

With regard to the specifics of your suggestions, we are gradually moving towards being able to integrate technology better within the processes that we follow here, e-mail communication being one of them. That said, we are making great strides to reducing the letters backlog situation and will by the end of September have these back within the NHS standard of two weeks. We trust that you agree that this is a much improved situation and one that we will remain on top of.

Re the funding, we have negotiated hard with NHS England this year and secured more funding for this financial year. This is enabling us to recruit a number of staff on both the admin and clinical teams that will begin to help us reduce those waiting times - though it should be noted this will not be a quick fix in terms of waiting times.

Re offering Skype appointments, again this is an avenue that we are investigating along with a number of other initiatives. We will advise our service users as soon as we have any concrete developments in this area as we are very aware that travel to us for many is both time-consuming and costly.
