Around 16 months ago I started feeling very ill. This culminated in me being rushed into Victoria Hospital in June 2015. I have for the last 9 months been passed from department to department in an attempt to identify the root cause of my condition.
I have access to private medical care. The private Neurologist identified the root cause. The condition is absolutely debilitating and has been for a long time now.
Linburn Road Medical Centre in Dunfermline prescribed an emergency medication. This medication has been an absolute life-line to me as it’s the only thing that we have found that stops the condition in its tracks. I experience attacks on a daily basis. I’ve now been informed that Linburn Road will not issue me with a repeat prescription for this medication.
I have built a very good career over a 20 year period. I have paid a substantial amount into the system and have only now turned to the NHS for support. I have never at any point had to rely on the NHS in the past. All of the consultations, MRI’s and CT’s were performed through the private health care provider at a saving t the NHS of around £2500.
I get the impression from Linburn Health Centre that they will not help me due to the cost of the medication. With the exception of one doctorI have never at any point felt any amount of empathy from any of the GPs at Linburn. One GP even suggested that "All this may be in your head". What normal person with a reasonable amount of consideration for others says something like that to a long suffering patient?
For a Health Service to deliberately refuse to provide me with the only medication that actually works is absolutely unacceptable.
