"Pre op"

About: Nuffield Health, Brentwood Hospital

Due to go in on 23rd march for atotal hip replacement.Had pre op this week.As soon as we walked the atmosphere was not good. Reported to reception, and in a VERY LOUD voice the receptionist announced Oh You Are NHS patient referred....so What!!!!! Nothing to do with you.They got name and date of birth wrong....also date of op!!!! After eventually seeing physio,was told that on going home only be givenraised bolted loo seat ....on day of discharge!!! No measurements taken,no frame to hold on to,no chair to sit on and no stool for helping to sit on while washing!!!!! All of these were provided last time this op was done.....at a NHS hospital.Was told "We do not provide this equipment, you will have to get it yourselves"!!!!!! If we had paid the£12,000 for this op privately ,I bet we would have not been treated this way.So......we are now trying to find out where we can loan this equipment.......with no help from Nuffield at all!......I do hope this op goes OK as am bit worried.......watch this space !!!!!!!!!

I am sorry that your experience with Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital so far hasn’t been as you would have liked. I can confirm that all patients are treated in the same way regardless of their pathway into the Hospital. I am sorry that you feel that you weren’t treated respectfully.
