My daughter has recently been a patient, and was unable to get out of bed for several days. I live too far away to be able to visit, but wanted to keep in touch by phone. To my astonishment, on her ward there were no individual phones by beds, no cordless phones and no phone trolley. and she couldn't get a mobile signal. As she couldn't get out of bed, I couldn't talk to her! Surely this should be improved urgently?
