I was admitted to Southend Hospital via an out patient appointment in April 2015 and was diagnosed with Anti Synthatase Syndrome a very rare Autoimmune Disease.
My treatment in the first instance by a consultant and an amazing nurse was second to none.
Within 30 minutes of seeing them, I had a bed in a ward and had been admitted.
I discovered that I was indeed very ill and ended up on the acute cardiac ward as I had heart and lung involvement with my condition.
I remained in hospital for about ten days and with the exception of one doctor, who I do not believe worked for Rheumatology, could not fault my treatment at all.
My disease is manageable but cannot, to date, be cured and I'm still undergoing treatment and am still exceptionally happy with all aspects of my care.
This hospital gets a lot of negative press, in my personal opinion, based on the treatment and level of care which I have received, this is totally unfounded.
