"My husband slipped on pavement ..."

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

(as the patient),

What I liked

My husband slipped on pavement ice and fractured his elbow. The nurses and supporting staff at the A&E, fracture clinic and xray department were very well behaved and nice. Very impressive. The doctors at A&E made things much easier for him with their skill and exceptional behaviour.

What could be improved

The doctor at the fracture clinic was very abrupt and dismissive. We waited for more than an hour to see him( inspite of having prior appointment); but he had hardly 2 minutes to spend with us. When my husband complained about pain in the elbow his reply was "there will be pain obviously, its a severe injury" which was not very helpful ! He did not explain at all about the post traumatic care procedures and we were left with a lot of unanswered questions.

Anything else?

There is a lack of cordination between fracture clinic and therapies department. The nurses at fracture clinic did not have any idea about what the physiotherapist would do.
