I underwent left eye cataract surgery on 12th March 2016. My welcome at reception was friendly and helpful. The nurse assigned to 'look after' me was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, kind and caring. They explained the procedure itself and the process I would undergo in detail. They were able to answer all of my questions and set me at rest. The consultant surgeon was also most helpful in terms of giving me a clear explanation of the procedure they would carry out.
At all times I felt confident that I was in safe hands; that all of the staff were competent and 'knew what they were doing'. I was treated with courtesy, respect, kindness and good humour by everyone I had dealings with. I was treated as 'a person' and not simply as a 'body on a trolley'.
During the actual procedure itself the surgeon talked me through their actions which I greatly appreciated. After the procedure the care was again excellent.
A 'comfortable' experience that provides me with a sound basis for the next cataract surgery on my right eye later this year.
A warm and grateful 'thankyou' to everyone.
Professor R Keith Ellis.
