"Excellent, caring, professional maternity..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

From ante natal care as I was classed high risk to the (eventually) low risk delivery of the baby herself, staff in this unit couldn't have cared for me better. Decisions re vaccines, jabs were discussed, explained and I was kept informed. On admission for birth, despite it being an incredibly busy night, staff were led by my choices and found me a bed where I was told I could stay if I'd like, or I could go home and return...the decision was left to me. I stayed and was well looked after and monitored. When it looked like the baby was arriving, I was moved and the midwife did everything they could to get me into a room on the labour birthing ward well before their shift ended so they could transfer data and info in plenty of time for the delivery. The new midwife was also superb, explaining options, giving choices and listening to my responses. We had a heathy baby girl a short while later. Once checks had been made, the cord cut, etc, I, and my husband, were offered tea and toast...and more if we wanted, which the midwife themdelves went to make. We were then left to get on with being a little family, with the midwife being a step away if we needed them. We were told we could stay in the side room rather than go up to the ward unless it was needed. Visitors weren't restricted to hours and were at the discretion of the midwife so my little girl and parents also visited for a couple of hours.

We really couldn't have asked for all staff to do anything more...thank you.
