"elective hip replacement"

About: Dorset County Hospital

I had an elective hip replacement last week. I was from out of area as my local specialist would not operate as they thought i was too high risk. I was referred to the doctor and after many tests, the doctor decided I was fit for surgery. I am pleased to say the operation was a complete success, butt my main reason for this review is because of how wonderful my experience at DCH was. I was involved in any decisions and had everything explained to me before it happened. I would single out the theatre team for this in particular. They were reassuring, caring and empathetic at all times. I recovered in Ridgeway ward and the care was outstanding. At no time was i made to feel that any request i made was unreasonable, despite how busy they were. Too single out anyone member of staff is difficult, but i must mention the trained nurses and HCA's Thank you alll and cleaners, all led by the Sister. Especial thanks to the member of staff for handling a very challenging patient who was causing other patients distress, with compassion, fairness and authority.

Dear Ms Harrold

Thank you for posting such lovely comments about how well the Orthopaedic Team and Ridgeway Ward cared for you during your elective hip replacement.

I was so pleased to read that the team truly reflected our Trust values of integrity, respect, teamwork and excellence and this was across all members of staff.

The domestic team, especially take pride in their work, so they will be delighted to read your comments about our cleaning staff.

I will make sure that your feedback reaches those involved in your care, and will put your comment forward for one of our staff recognition awards.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, which staff are always grateful to receive, it is good to hear that their care was reassuring, empathetic and compassionate.

Kind Regards
