"Chaos in A&E & Too few Ambulances"

About: Leighton Hospital

My brother waited nearly an hour for an ambulance to take him to A&E(the fast response team were excellent) the initial check in went well and he was put on a trolley and then he spent over 4hrs on a trolley in the corridor. At no time did any member of staff check on him or explain what was going on. By the time he finally arrived in a cubicle he was very distressed and in pain. He only had a very brief examination from the doctor. When we came to leave we struggled to discuss anything with the staff as they were all hidden behind computer screens. Not all impressed with Leighton A&E .

May we first apologise that your experience at Leighton A&E department was anything other than a positive one.

Unfortunately, long waits within the department can arise despite the best efforts of all staff concerned. Communication is essential during these times of extremis and we once again apologise that in this instance we fell short of expectations. Please would you contact our customer service department if you would like a more detailed response to your concerns or if you would like to discuss your experience with us directly. Their contact number is 01270 612410

Many thanks
