I had gone to my 20 weeks scan at the monklands hospital- the person who performed the scan was so unwelcoming. I had asked if my mum and mother in law could come into the scan and was snapped at "no" with no further explanation. The member of staff never asked how I was, is this your first kid etc. nothing! the only time they spoke was when I was told me to lie down- I did. I asked if the he screen could be turned round to which she snapped "no, ill show you at the end" the end came and I asked if it was a boy or a girl and the member of staff made no attempt to try and get my baby to move, and coldly said "no obvious boy parts" As part of the 20 weeks scan one of the checklist questions for my baby's health was about the face, this scanner couldn't get a clear photo of my baby's face and again made no attempt to try and get my baby to move- the staff member has even wrote in my pregnancy book "face not visible" this 20 week scan was supposed to be a health check for my baby I left in tears and had to book a scan that very day as I was scared for my baby's health as I didn't feel the staff member was confident in looking over my baby- I have a receipt to prove this. my scan was in the morning and I couldn't get a scan till that day at around 5 oclock- as you can imagine this was an agonising wait worrying if my baby was ok or not.
very unpleasant experience to the extent if I have any more kids I would be scared to go for a scan at the monklands again.
My friends recently had their 20 week scans at the monklands (my 2 friends- I can provide their name in private to check the records) they both got very lengthy scans with the genders confirmed the scanners even turned on the 4d- I asked for 4d but got told this was a luxury- a luxury that evidently I was denied of.
