"A&E/ Neurology Dept."

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

The JR has had some very big changes and new areas added to it over the years, which has dramatically paid off. The childrens ward in particular (my nephews have unfortunately had to spend a good amount of time there in the past) is, in my opinion, one of the best in the county.

A&E waiting time has come down a lot over the years; if you are in danger you are seen pretty much instantly. However, if there is no immediate threat you are seen within 15 or so minutes by the triage and then told to wait. Waiting ranges from instant to around 6 hours (for say, a broken toe). As such I think peoples illnesses are taken in the consideration very well (which is not the same for many hospitals.

My main time at the Jr however is spent within the Neurology dept. I have a complex disorder of Tourettes syndrome which is not simply swearing and is in fact a very painful and life changing disorder. I have always been treated with respect by the doctors 9unlike another hospital in which I was the staffs amusement for the day and hordes of doctors were sent to look at me which I was being treated).
