"renal unit go above and beyond their duties"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Urology (Ward 6)

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with renal failure when I was a teenager. I was on dialysis for years. I had mental health problems and staff supported me not only with my physical illness but my mental ill health too. They made time for me and listened to me, talk about my childhood trauma. They introduced me to meditation and done this with me. I still attend renal unit and staff are still fantastic. They work well together as a team and each member of staff gives 100 per cent to their job, both in dialysis units and in ward 1 at Monkland's Hospital. I honestly don't know where id be without all staff in there. There is no words that I can say that will thank them enough throughout my 16 years of being a renal patient.

Dear Annonomous

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience of care within the Renal Unit here at Monklands Hospital.

Being diagnosed with a longterm condition can be very challenging and your experience has demonstrated the importance of seeing the whole person and not only the physical condition. I am glad staff have introduced you to meditation and the benefits you have gained from this, I'm sure the staff also feel better for taking that time with you to reflect.

I will be delighted to share your feedback with the Renal Unit staff.

Kindest regards

Ruth
