"I thought the meals looked somewhat ..."

About: Kingston Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

I thought the meals looked somewhat better than those I received myself when I was last in hospital, choices were quite varied and didn't have to be selected the day before.

What could be improved

I was quite disturbed at the attitudes of the staff on the ward which my relative was in. More than once I heard them shouting at patients and speaking in a rather dismissive and disrespectful way. Personal information could be heard by anyone listening. No one seemed to be in charge or taking responsibility for managing the ward. In contrast, my relative was later transferred to St George's and within 10 seconds of arriving to visit I was in no doubt who the Ward Sister was.

Anything else?

There seemed to be lots of staff - unlike the old days - but I got no impression that they all knew what they were doing. I'd be very apprehensive of being admitted to Kingston Hospital myself after this experience and will do everything in my power to make sure it never happens.
