I have been treated for PTSD related to childhood sexual abuse, and a mood disorder. Having been treated at my local hospital being referred to the Maudsley was a breath of fresh air. I found the doctors more knowledgable and following a years group therapy and a change of medication has resulted in no more flashbacks, my mood is stable and has been for eight years. I know that if I had stayed locally I would not have been offered the appropriate talking therapy and would have been advised to take Lithium. PTSD was diagnosed but the Maudsley and following treatment I have been able to return to the job I love. I appreciate that everyone's experiance of mental Heath services is different but I wanted to share my experiance to encourage others.
"Very impressive service"
