"Blood thinning... the conclusion"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Following a nightmare journey through appalling care at Winchester Hospital, I was discharged on anti-coagulants, Rivaroxaban. Signed out and told that the Hospital will be in touch to follow up anti-coagulant treatment. With no follow up, I chased the blood department who claimed they had no record of me! !

So I gave up on Winchester, it was the last straw. I contacted Basingstoke Hospital who were the extreme opposite to the previous disappointing care. Basingstoke were immensely helpful, supportive, informative, caring and quite frankly, it made me wish I had taken the chance on a slightly longer car journey in my emergency dash following multiple PE that landed me in the waiting room at Winchester with bitter regret.

However, my follow up care continued at Basingstoke, where I joined a trial and had excellent continuation of assistance and care throughout the following 6 months of drug therapy. I can only speak highly of the team in Basingstoke, everyone I met there was efficient, helpful and generally brilliant. Support needed at a time when life had flipped unexpectedly. A few months after this I was referred for a small operation to remove a Mortons Neuroma from my foot, it was with fear and trepidation that 9 months following illness I was due to have the operation, this time at Basingstoke. It was incredibly different, the care and follow through from first appointment to surgery was extremely good. Anaesthetist listened and ensured that the usual post op nausea did not happen, staff were brilliant, follow up efficient, I cannot speak highly enough of the team, the hospital and the experience.
