I attended the blood clinic on 7th March. The department was full to brimming with patients waiting to be seen. Despite this the staff were working flat out but vthere was a constant changeover of patients arriving and leaving.
The staff
I could not fault but I was shocked at how they were harassed by the patients who had to wait to be seen. It was obvious they were doing their utmost to cope with the volume Indeed there was a delay to be seen but this was dealt with admirably by the phlebotomists.
I felt that they were put under immense pressure.
It is a sad reflection that although the patients are well catered for the staff are not.
I would like to congratulate the team on an exceptional service. They deserve praise not insults. Perhaps senior management could look at their workload as it appears unrealistically high.
As for the general public, could we please give this a thought, they are doing a great job despite adversity. It is a working acute hospital and at times some patients will require priority due to the urgency of their conditions.
On a personal note please accept my grateful thanks for a fantastic job. It is a real tribute to you to watch you remain calm, efficient and smiling.
