"Appointment cancelled at last minute"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Appointment for my child cancelled at less than 24 hours by hospital after waiting over 4 months from date of appointment (hospital letter ) and told she would have to wait another 4 months by hospital staff. How do you tell your child that her appointment has been cancelled and she has to wait again. It is now 9 months that she has had trouble hearing and her school work has suffered.

No wonder the trust is in special measures.

We're very concerned to read your posting about the cancellation of your daughters appointment with the ENT Department at Eastbourne District General Hospital.

We can see that this must have been distressing for you and your daughter, particularly as her condition is effecting her school work.

May we reassure you that decisions about appointment cancellations are not taken likely and we sincerely apologise that you have experienced a cancellation.

We would like to help you by looking into exactly what is happening with your daughters appointment, and to do this, we would suggest that you make contact with our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS).

PALS are a confidential informal service, who can liaise with Trust staff on your behalf.

They can be contacted on 01323 435886 or by email at: esh-tr.PALSE@nhs.net.

Their opening times are Monday to Friday (10am to 4pm).

Once again we apologise for any distress caused and we hope to hear from you very soon.
