"The care my husband received"

About: Victoria Hospital / Neurology

(as a relative),

Husband confused. Didn't know where he was. After coming out of coma and being on a ventilator for over a month. Staff sending for security for him. He was traumatised. We thought staff was rude. Not getting help to go to toilet. We thought the Toilet was filthy. Told an auxillary. Husband couldn't use toilet. . Told she never made the mess. And walked on. Reported. again and again. Things got worse. Nobody washing him. Changing his clothes. Went through patient relations. Was very disappointed with their response. My husband was in there for 4 wks off hell. I can write a book about. I thought the care my husband received was disgusting.

Dear chico

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your husband's experience in the Victoria Hospital. What you describe sounds awful and it is really concerning to hear that you continued to have concerns despite having raised these with ward staff and then through Patient Relations. I would be keen to speak to you directly to clarify which ward your husband was in and to look at what else we could have done to resolve issues to your satisfaction. Please consider calling me directly so that we can discuss this further - 01592 648069.. In the meantime I am passing your post on to see if this is recognised so we can review the situation.

Regards

Louise Ewing
