A Family member was transferred on to Ward C9 RBH and I have to say what a horrible un caring place it is for someone to die.
Just shoved in to a scruffy dark small room and injected with morphine and then left on their own to end their life until visitors arrive.
I have been in the room to comfort a family member who is currently going through end of life stages and I have watched and heard visitors and staff stand directly outside the room laughing and joking loudly chatting to each other about 'what they got up to at the weekend etc, No concern or respect for the dying pt.
When the staff decide to go away, you can then hear constant cries wails from another pts at the other end of the ward, obviously needing help from staff that she never gets. And another patient hearing her constant cry must have, like me heard enough and strangely because no staff can be found at this point, he shouts at the patient to shut up!
Phones are always left ringing and countless loud bangs and crashes coming from every direction it's disgraceful, staff are few and unhelpful seems like they just 'fob' you off with anything about the patients progress and that's even get any info from them at all.
I have visited and entered a 'high infectious pt room without a member of staff aware I visited and I was in there for for over 3hours and NOT one member of staff checked that room! Not one!
The room has dirty walls with plug sockets hanging off, also the bed is disgusting and displayed clear signed of rust and god knows what else?
The room has nothing but a wall clock facing the dying pt displaying a date that was wrong by 5 months.
This ward seriously needs to be reviewed by management before they are seriously reported to the comms.
"Staff and visitors have no respect for End of Life patients."
