"Excellent treatment of my eye at Leeds teaching Hospital"

About: St James's University Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I have had Recurrent Corneal Erosion Syndrome for several years and had previously been treated for regular lapses in Edinburgh at the Eye Pavilion. I then moved to Leeds for work, and quickly found myself in need of treatment at St. James, Leeds Teaching Hospital as I had a lapse.

Although I had no specific complaints of the treatment from the Eye pavilion in Edinburgh, I found that in the Leeds Teaching Hospital they focussed much more quickly on treating the condition, rather than responding to the symptoms. Overall the treatment felt much more progressive, and I quickly had laser surgery to correct the offending scarred tissue.

While I am still not free of the condition, and must use a thick eye lubricant every night, I feel that overall I am significantly improved as a result of the treatment I received. The consultants and doctors that treated me were also very clear and open on what was going on and what my options were. Overall I was very impressed and grateful for the treatment I received.
