"Worse experience ever"

About: Conquest Hospital

Went to the Conquest with chest pains, very busy so admitted to A & E cubicle 1 laid on a trolley seen by nurse and Doctor after a wait, who said they were satisfied that my pain was cardiac related, then for six hours only occasionally asked I was alright, still in pain was given meds and cannula inserted and morphine given, after four hours was asked by ancillary staff if I would like something to eat! I chose a salad which was alright but was not asked if I would like a drink of tea or coffee, I had only water to drink, I asked how long would I have to wait on the trolley they told me bed had been made ready which would be more comfortable, after another two hours the bed arrived with no pillows and no blanket. Having waited up to six hours and no sign of things improving I was given anther morphine dose. Having arrived at around 12 noon and now 6 pm feeling dizzy and sick, Another 6 hours I was taken into AAU this was at around midnight, was told the cardiology would see me in the morning. The Doctor arrived late morning just as I went into AFib the rate was between 99to 145bpm I was feeling dizzy and faint the Dr said they would prescribe some medication to lower the heart rate,at no time did the doctor check my pulse or listen to my heart just stood there and said my condition was not cardiac related, this duly arrived and the bpm rate reduced to around100 bpm, at about 2.45 pm a nurse came and asked how would I travel home, I was shocked to hear this as I still had chest pains and my AFib was still bad, the sister came who in quite an arrogant manner said they had the discharge letter from the Dr, I asked was it usual to discharge a patient with chest pains, I then pointed to the screen showing quite strong AFib, but the nurse was not interested in what I had to say so I asked if the Dr who had made the decision but the nurse said here is the discharge letter which has inaccurices, my wife arrived just at that moment I tried to show her the readings on the screen and was pushed out of the way by the sister who then switched it off, and was not interested in my questions. My medical history of heart problems is well documented in my notes, 3 heart attacks, 3 stents, multiple Angios, diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease, Heart failure , Diabetic 2 just to mention a few, also having more than 45 years in several areas of Health Care and no one who would listen or give me an explanation to why they wanted to discharge someone who still had chest pains, I was feeling quite shaky and said to my wife I would go home as no one wanted to listen, I rang my GP as soon as arrived home to tell them what had happened so they would know. All my years of work in the NHS I have never seen such incompetence from a service I hold dear to my heart
