"Minor Injuries Dept"

About: Tewkesbury Hospital

I attended the hospital this morning at 08:15 and was met with a poor attitude from the moment the door was answered.

I explained that I had an operation on my hand a week ago and that although it had not been knocked it had started bleeding through the bandage and I was concerned that the stitches may have come out.

Apart from the fact it was empty and it took them 25 minutes to even book me in and a further 20 mins to be called in I realise by Cheltenham and Gloucester standards this is quick but as I said there was literally no one there.

When I was called through for the member of staff to look at it they told me that I should have gone to Cheltenham Hosptial as that was where the operation was done. I explained I only needed a fresh bandage and someone to check it was ok the member of staff then replied I could have bought one!

I said that I had been seen in Physiotherapy at the hospital 2 days before and was informed that this was a different department and budget - Really!

I am a local resident and wanted to visit my local hospital after all the multi million pounds of mine and local residents tax money that was spent replacing the old one that does not even provide an out of hours GP service - we are expected to travel to Cheltenham or Gloucester for that!

It makes you wonder what was the point of it all. The old Tewkesbury minor injuries was staffed by friendly and caring staff who tried their best to help everyone quickly and efficiently not make you feel like you had no right to be there as you are not part of their budget.
