"Camhs are letting my son down"

About: Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust / Child and adolescent mental health

(as a parent/guardian),

My child went to see Fairfield camhs about 16months ago and we have had an exhausting time with them! They initially told us he displayed signs of aspergers and after the meeting I found everything I could on the subject and oh yes he certainly does.

In December we had a bereavement and my son who had just turned 11 had a crisis. I had three appointments that I went to but the roof was leaking on all 3 occasions so couldn't be seen. Then my son had a total breakdown. Couldn't leave his room let alone the house. Hasn't been to school for a month. Camhs agreed he had a crisis and left me to it. Had one home visit for 15 mins and that's only cause I dragged my son to the appointment and I yet again was told nobody there to see us! So they came to my house said he was distressed and left.

Phoned them 19 times this week never got back to me. Now have school wanting me to home school and remove him from register. No help anywhere and my son's anxiety, depression, and school refusal being left to me to deal with. A year and a half and still no official diagnosis for aspergers.

My son says he's broken and trusted the adults involved to help him but apparently they get paid to do very little and believe me this is only a fraction of the story. My child just needed help and all of this could've been avoided. Now he has no education no help and has totally given up. Camhs, school welfare officer, senco, school and social services let my child down and continue to do so.
