"Poor service for my son"

(as a service user),

I booked an appointment with Perry vale dental for my son. I was surprised to find out my sons name was not correct on their system. However, I didn't mind because it was corrected.

A date was set for my son to have an extraction and filling, as such he would require anaesthetic, which I agreed to and booked a date. I had training for a job which I cancelled so that I could attend my son's dental appointment.

The Saturday before the Wednesday he was meant to receive care I called the practice because he was in pain. The receptionist pulled up my son's file using his date of birth. I was then told that my son could not see the dentist to have the care before the date which I thought was understandable. I managed my sons pain at home and he was able to attend school Monday and Tuesday, ensuring I had notified the school that he would be absent on Wednesday due to his appointment.

On Wednesday I went to the appointment with my son were I was told by the said receptionist I spoke to on the Saturday that my son could not receive treatment because the doctor had a bank injury and would be away for 43 weeks.

I was told by the said receptionist that I had been informed via voicemail the week before. I said to her that I spoke to you on Saturday and was told I should attend on Wednesday. I asked why I was not informed. I was not given any further guidance on how to complain or what would be done for my little boy.

I believe they have been unprofessional and inconsiderate based on the care my son as received. I have called the practice since returning home and have been told that a supervisor will call me I do not know when my son will be seen for treatment, if at all. I have also missed out on additional income.
