"Balance between good and bad healthcare"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire Wishaw General Hospital / Paediatrics

(as the patient),

I work with disabled children and young people and have dealings with health professionals through work mainly in Edinburgh and all my experiences have been good, until I moved to a small village in lanarkshire and have found the local GP practice the worst I have ever had dealings with.

I have two children who have life long medical conditions and their care through Sick Kids in Edinburgh was exceptional. Their care was moved to South Lanarkshire a few years ago and Wishaw general staff and consultants have been fantastic..unfortunately our GP practice which is our first port of call is awful.

The attitude of staff and the lack of empathy or care are the worst I have encountered. I have numerous examples of the attitude of staff at the surgery which seems to filter down.  These examples include extreme rudeness, refusing treatment, harshness, lack of  empathy and very cold manner.   One doctor's first comment to my daughter who had an irregular mole which had started to bleed.."well if its cancer its cancer ..if its not its not! "

We are a polite, caring and loving family, I work in care and support many families voluntarily to have respite. I am not an angry person but my dealings with this surgery makes me extremely angry. I avoid going to the doctors and as a result ended up in hospital a few weeks ago myself. I have 4 specific examples that I am happy to share but I am hoping someone will advise me how to proceed with a formal complaint because I am on the verge of confronting these people. it is the only medical centre in the village, why should I have to travel 6 miles to see a doctor. I know it will come to this but why should local people have to put up with a group of people who exert control over patients in this way. Quality patient care should be their priority in this practice, it clearly is not.
