"Detached retina"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

Today is Day 8 of 'posturing' after my surgery to reattach my retina.

I was referred through from Rotherham A&E late on a Friday evening.

I spent Fri 12th Feb on Ward N1 and was dealt with by friendly supportive staff - both consultants and nurses.

Discharged on Sat afternoon, and returned Mon 15th Feb for my surgery - thankfully by general anesthetic.

All staff involved took the time to explain the procedure to me, made sure I understood it all and gave the opportunity to ask questions.

They gave time and comfort to me when I got upset and scared.

My praise was picked up by Sheffield Hospitals yesterday on Twitter but I also wanted to put this review online.

I hope that this excellent service will continue for the following six weeks until I'm due to return for my next follow up appointment.

Many thanks.
