"Treatment of a 9 month old child with..."

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

My grandson was admitted last night with a very high temperature and a rash which is constant with either Sepsis or Viral Meningitis. Having had an antibiotic injection they now wish to discharge him even though he is still very sick and have threaten to call social services if the parents don't come in everyday at 07:00 so he can have an injection.

Given that they live in Gosport and that they have no means of transport to get there at that time this is wholly unreasonable also they appear to should want to get rid of the problem rather than deal with a very sick child. Having, in recent times, heard of children dying from this illness I am disgusted that the hospital should put at risk a 9 month old baby in this way.

I am sorry to note your unhappiness. However, contact has been made with the child's mother. I understand that this matter has been discussed with her and she has indicated that she is happy with the outcome and plan of action being taken.

Kind regards.

Debbie
