About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

A family member has currently been in this hospital. They were on ward 11 which I can not recommend enough, lovely & clean and friendly staff. They were then moved to ward 32. The stair wells are dirty with grit and dust in the corners and the ward is not much cleaner itself as well as being dark and dingy. When the beds were to be changed, my relative was advised they could only change one pillowcase as there was not enough clean ones to go around. The consultant and the team were brilliant but on the general cleanliness of this hospital, I would not recommend it to anyone. In fact, it is the dirtiest hospital I have ever visited.

Thank you for providing feedback on your recent experience with a family member at Darlington Memorial Hospital.

I am very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the cleanliness at the hospital and your comments have been passed to the Associate Director (AD)of Estates & Facilities.

They have provided a reply to say that regular cleaning audits are completed at all sites within the Trust to ensure a clean environment is present for all users.

Obviously this was not evident during your visits to this ward and we will investigate your concerns and action any recommendations.
