On the day I arrived a surgeon was running late owing to a car accident, as such the clinic were running severely behind schedule which was completely understandable.
However, my treatment prior to my surgery was less than pleasant. The nurse who scanned me could not have seem less interested or caring for someone in a caring profession. The nurse initially had trouble locating my pregnancy and spoke to me in a very harsh manner about how to position my legs (had the nurse fully explained initially, I would have positioned myself correctly straight away). To top it off, the nurse left my scan picture on the screen for me to see (I'm assuming accidentally).
Fortunately I was very early in my pregnancy and could not see much, however I dread to think what the effects might have been had I been later down the line. When questioning me the nurse appeared to be going through the motions and trying to rush through the process. I understand they were running late, but considering having a termination can be a very difficult time this is not the approach I was expecting.
Having said all that, the surgical and aftercare team were amazing and helped an initial negative experience become more positive.
I can only hope my initial experience was a complete one off.
"A mixed experience"
