"Visted A&E"

About: Royal Free Hospital

Visted A&E department with my daughter on wedneday night. She had been vomiting non stop and by the evening her temperature had gone up to 40.9 and i was adviced to take her there. When we arrived to wait in the childrens area, i noticed how dirty it was and th e room had been halfed because of building work. It was very hot and i was concerned my daughter would get hotter because of this. A child then through up in the corner and a lady told the nurse when the nurse came in and almost snapped at her ok will see to it. Nobody came to clean it up, hygiene and all. The parent of the child ended up cleaning it herself, concidering bugs going around i thought this was appaling the hygiene standards.

We eventually went in and was seen by a nurse who took her temperature and obbs, gave her some medicine to lower her temperature thankfully and then went off to get the fluid test to make sure she wasnt sick again, an hour later still waiting for this test. Nobody came in to see if my daughter was ok or anything, i then went looking for the nurse and found out from another nurse, they had finished their shift and gone home, without telling anyone they we were waiting, was absolutely appalled by this, i had to chase a nurse down to see to us, otherwise no would have come in. Eventually test was done and then waited another 1/12 hours to be seen by a junior doctor i think. Urine test was done but doctor didnt bother getting results and sent her home, without knowing wether she had an infection or not, overall an appauling experience and one i will never repeat. I will never bring my daughter back to the A&E department again here.
