"Positive Steps"

About: Avon And Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust

(as the patient),

I am a patient who is very concerned at the amount of time it takes to get an appointment with Positive Steps,

My G.P reffered me and it took 9 weeks for the initial assesment, then once i had seen them another 2 weeks for a phone call to say when a therapist would see me which now i am on a waiting list which will be 6-9 months.

I do not think this is acceptable .

Dear 'Help',

I am sorry to hear that you had a long wait to get an appointment with Positive Steps and I hope that since your posting you feel that waiting times have now improved which will benefit other people who are referred in the future.

My name is Andy Johnston and I am the clinical director for Adult mental health services provided by Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. When I read your posting I contacted the manager of Positive Steps and we have been working hard to improve the wait times to this service.

If you are still experiencing difficulties, we would certainly like to know. You can contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who will be able to help to ensure that your concerns are heard. PALS can be contacted on free phone no 0800 073 1770 or 01249 468261 or by email to pals@awp.nhs.uk.

As it is now some time since you posted your feedback on Patient Opinion, I would hope that you have been seen by Positive Steps and would very much encourage you to share any further feedback with us about the service. We are really keen to hear about the experiences of our service users.

Thank you again for sharing your views with us.
