"The nurse that looked after me ..."

About: Southport & Formby District General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The nurse that looked after me on ward 10a was full of apologies for the way I was being treated.

What could be improved

everything from cleaning to communication at all levels.

Anything else?

admitted to A&E sent to ward 10a told no beds available in any wards spent 1 day there asked if a would mind moving to 15a problem being it was just a bed, told by nurse I could refuse so I said I would stay were I was until a proper bed became available. I was then approached by nurse in charge and was told if I didnt move I would be taken up a bed that an old person may be in need of but I could refuse and it would not effect my treatment talk about blackmail and intimidation so I moved, my new bed was a small bed pushed against a wall no curtains no privacy my wife complained and was told if I refuse the bed I would be told to go home even though I was in severe pain there was no other bed in the hospital. Next day I was moved again to 11a a side ward proper facilities great second day still awaiting scan. Scanner being serviced today no scan. My wife complained about the way I had been treated. Then told scan tomorrow 9am. I mentioned to my wife I had not been given my blood pressure tablets which I take on a daily basis. She questioned this with the nurse on duty who said this ward self medicates and my blood pressure was fine. My wife asked for my file to be re-looked at and pointed out the letter my GP had admitted me into hospital with clearly stating my medication. They then said it was A & E's error as it had been missed and not prescribed. My wife asked for it to be rectified immediately. It is now Thursday I have been Nil by Mouth since arriving at the hospital on Monday and still waiting for a scan.
