"I was admitted to St George's ..."

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted to St George's from Kingston Hospital as Kingston did not have the expertise to treat my injury. From arrival on the ward I was treated with kindness, courtesy and skill by an exceptional team of nurses, doctors and physios.

The operation I had was major and I was a frightened patient. As a man of 49, it's hard to admit that but the nurses picked up on it and were kind and caring way beyond expectation. When I went to theatre, the anaesthetist was waiting for me, they had been briefed on how I was and immediately offered me something to make me sleep which I was so grateful for.

I woke up and was taken back to the ward where the input from the nurses was excellent. I could not have asked for more, standards were high, care was professional and the staff were exceptionally friendly. I felt safe, comfortable and was so well looked after by the staff on Holdsworth Ward. I could not thank them enough.

What could be improved

I couldn't suggest a single improvement to my care or experience and I say that as a Registered Nurse with 25 years experience in the job. The staff I met were without exception exemplary.
