He was released from hospital just before Christmas
And the care package took too long to set up and then his discharge was all over the place and he did not turn up at home until hours after he was supposed to be discharged
The care package was a nightmare – as nurses did not turn up on time – and we had a nurse take away his commode which he needed leaving my dad and mum with the same commode and problems that caused for both of them when they both needed the toilet. It was not discussed with my parents and taken away without no thought or reason.
The nurses changed the medication without letting the carers know – which confused and worried them. They cannot be left with no instructions and they rang the out of hours care service on the package and no-one got back to them. We also kept having the carer package for my dad changed over and over again.
Mum and dad would like to wake up at the similar time and if the nurse if supposed to be there around 8.00 am – there is no excuses for turning up at 9.30 or 10.30 which has happened. It ends up with my dad having to taken care of my the local carers and this causing problems with going to bed at different times and having meals at different times – this was not part of the agreement of what they wanted.
My father would prefer to sleep with his wife and not have to sleep in the hospital bed, especially in his days of his life .
Why cannot the normal bed be changed to suit his needs?
Mother and father do not want to have to sleep alone.
Now I want to know why setting up the care package takes so long – why it keeps changing and why have the mistakes and things happened as above – as the other carers and I have seen the evidence of the above.
there is never enough nurses on the wards so customers wait ages to be seen or to go to toilet - it has put been off the NHS - seeing the back side of it when Peterborough hospital is in debt with high rents and high costs of services - we are all paying for it
"disjointed and lack of co- ordination"
