"Yet another admin blunder"

(as the patient),

I have recently received a letter from the Endoscopy Unit at Victoria Hospital for a colonoscopy - which I had already had. The package also contained the relevant information plus the laxative preparations.

2 days later I contacted that unit and straight away, as soon as I gave my hospital number, it was realised that a mistake had been made, and the appointment should have been for an endoscopy.

I am highlighting this because this is the second time such a thing has happened to me in recent months and I understand from 'internal sources' that this type of thing is happening all too frequently.

Your experience has highlighted that the system we have for booking patients needs to be reviewed. I understand that you have spoken to John our Booking Unit Supervisor who is now looking at ways to improve the booking process to reduce the possibility of this happening again.
