I received treatment after an operation for bowel cancer. I was very impressed by the quality of the service and by the treatment I received. The nurses were not only kind and knowledgeable but they provided emotional support as well. In so far as it is possible, we enjoyed our interactions with the medical staff who were honest and open and answered our questions with patience and kindness. The atmosphere in the department is very positive. I didn't expect there to be much humour there but in fact there was. Both patients and staff interacted with kindness and humour. It is a department with much common-sense - a rare commodity indeed. Although I would prefer not to have had cancer in the first place, I found the experience in the department very positive and uplifting. I wouldn't trade in the experiences I had though I would trade in the cancer!
If you find yourself having to undergo treatment then you will be in compassionate and knowledgeable hands. They will look after you and they're on your side. When dealing with cancer you need people on your side!
"Kind, considerate and knowledgeable"
