"Parking - Watford General"

About: Watford General Hospital

(as a relative),

I'm a huge fan of the NHS, and to a degree can understand the sometimes punitive charges for parking. This is especially true if a hospital has a reasonable system if you need to visit daily or for extended periods of time.

I was shocked however, to find the liberties taken at Watford General by football fans - Vicarage Road being situated next to the hospital.

Arriving on a Saturday there was no parking at the hospital - every pitifully small space was full. However once the game finished, 100s of fans promptly turned up and cleared the car park.

It's disgusting that the car park for a hospital is used this way - especially given the Acute care departments at this location. Having families and carers have to park some distance away to allow selfish football fans have convenient parking is just plain wrong.
