"Aids that would help some wheelchair users"

I visit the Royal Free often as an inpatient or an outpatient. When I need to stand up from a wheelchair so the doctor can examine my back , bottom or legs, I can do so easily if only there were grab rails, fixed to the wall, that I could use. The same applies if I need to transfer to the examination bed. It would save time and effort because no extra help, say from a nurse or two, would be needed to help me stand up. Unfortunately, because of injury to my elbow ,I cannot push myself up from a seated position, I pull myself up.

I have suggested to PALS on several occasions, the need for such grab rails , but to no avail. I meet with the same problem at my GP's surgery.

It appears to me that no body in the NHS does really care about how to make it less difficult for disabled patients to be examined.
